Tuesday, 3/16/21 – Pressing on… Power & Love

Power & Love

One blessed point of which our brother Don Longworth reminded us was that with our God is all Power and the Greatest Love.

Power belongs to you, God, and with you, Lord, is unfailing love

Psalm 62:11-12

Of this every believer can be certain. There is nothing else of which any mortal can be so certain. The foundation of the gospel in which we trust is that God so loved… that He acted on our behalf to redeem us, to save us. He is our Saviour.

He will save us from drowning… He has yet a plan and purpose for us. He will save us from drowning… perhaps by calming a storm, perhaps by causing us to walk on the water, perhaps by providing for us an ark, or possibly even a great fish to engulf us! But He will save us from drowning. He has plans for us, plans to give us “hope and a future” (Jer. 29:11).

Our God is the One Who has power over all storms: physical, spiritual, emotional, storms without and storms within. Like the disciples in the storm-tossed boat we must go to Him, seek answer from Him, and not trust to our own might.

Don’t you care?” cried the disciples Mark 4:38). “Don’t you care?” likewise pled Martha (Luke 10:40), busy in her own strength trying to please our Lord, though He was pleased already at the choice of Mary who sat listening to Him at His feet. “Don’t you care?” we ask Him ourselves when loved ones are ill, when finances are low, when trials and sorrows of this world increase.

Yes, He cares. He cares very much. He cares more than you are capable of caring. He asks you to come to Him, leaving the crowds, He and you, face to face, broken, hurting, confused, crying, naked soul before Creator. He loves you. He is the God to Whom belongs all Power and unfailing Love.

If we refuse, He might well ask of us, “Don’t you care?
